PYREX

Pyrex has a thermal shock rating of 580 degrees F.  When Pyrex breaks it tends to break into large straight pieces.  We only offer pyrex in 1/8" thick pieces.  Pyrex is only recommended for use in cast iron stoves and gas space heaters in very small pieces, due to its' low mechanical strength.  It should not be used in fireplaces.

MICA

Mica can withstand temperatures of up to 1800 degrees F.  Mica is a transparent mineral used in older coal and wood stoves.  Mica is offered in .003" and .005".  It can be cut with scissors because it is similar to flexible, clear plastic.

HIGH TEMPERATURE CERAMIC GLASS

High temperature ceramic glass has a thermal shock rating of 1380 degrees F.  When it breaks it tends to break into large straight pieces.  High temperature ceramic glass is only available in 3/16" thick.  This is the most recommended glass for cast iron stoves.

When you need a piece of glass for your wood stove you can count on us to supply it to you quickly!

You should never use tempered glass in a wood burning stove, it will shatter into pea sized pieces soon after you crank up the heat.  Heat rated Pyrex or, more commonly, High Temperature Ceramic Glass is used in wood burning stoves.
